Anchor Stones New Feature, A Closer Look
"Quick honey! Duck down!" It was the first day of our trip to Noah’s Ark. The ground began to rumble and I was sure it was an earthquake. They have them regularly in this part of Turkey.

We looked out of the motel window and we could see Mount Ararat in the distance. But about 100 yards in front of our hotel there were military vehicles and troops racing east. We were told in briefings before we left Istanbul to not film or take pictures of the military. So my wife and I cautiously peered out the window at this military activity. We could see thousands of troops and vehicles. Our first thought was, would this keep us from going to the Noah’s Ark site?
A little later that morning we left with our group to go to the site. After a short drive on the main highway we were stopped by the Turkish military at a checkpoint. The question in our minds again was, "Would they keep us from going to Noah’s Ark?". We had waited over 12 years and many hours of planning. Would it all be for nought?
They asked for our passports and we gave them to them. They seemed friendly enough and after a few moments we were allowed to go on. Our guide told us that there were rebels in the area and the military was showing them who was boss. To our great relief we were allowed to proceed. It was actually a blessing that we were surrounded by the military. It made us feel safer. That’s because the Noah’s Ark site is within 6km of the Iranian border. You can see Russia and Armenia to the north and Iraq is 300 miles to the south. Plus you have the rebels who are trying to make a point with the Turks about giving them an independent state.
This was a brief picture of the area and its dangers. And yet we felt privileged to be there. Overwhelmed actually.
HAS THE FINAL COUNTDOWN BEGUN?
Many people including scientists, statesmen and others sense that our planet is on a deadline with destiny.
